Robert Astolfi, 76, of Forty Fort, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, Aug.16, 2016, at Celtic Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre. Born in Scranton on July 17, 1940 , he was the son of the late George and Martha (Austrus) Astolfi. After graduating from Plains Memorial High School as class president in 1959, he went on to serve his country in the 165th military police battalion of the US Army. He married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Castellani Astolfi on May 2, 1964, and they celebrated 52 years of marriage this year. Robert was the owner and operator of The Children’s Bootery in the United Penn Plaza, Kingston, for 36 years, and retired in 2013. He was an active member of the Wyoming Avenue Christian Church, and enjoyed playing the trumpet and singing in the choir. He also enjoyed telling stories and jokes to his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother. Surviving are his brother, Germano and sister, Mary; children, Michelle and her husband Peter, Dean and his wife Julianne, Cynthia and her husband Rob, Nicole, and Danette; and grandchildren, Olivia, Dominic, Jonah, Avani, Fionna, and Ronin. Robert was deeply loved and will be sadly missed. A home-going celebration will be held at 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, at Wyoming Avenue Christian Church, 881 Wyoming Avenue Kingston, with Pastor Dennis Gray officiating. Friends and family may come to call from 4 to 5 p.m. at the church. Arrangements will be made by Yanaitis Funeral Home, Hudson.
