Obituary of Edward Sweeda Jr.

Edward (Ed) Francis Sweeda Jr, 67, of Plains Township, passed on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, after being stricken ill at home.

Ed was born in the Hudson section of Plains on June 11, 1949, and was a son of the late Edward Sr. and Marian Potera Sweeda. Ed grew up in Hudson and attended local schools. He was a graduate of Scranton Prep High School, class of 1967. He continued his education at the University of Detroit until a sports injury changed his life.

Ed attended a tradesmen school and joined his father business Ed Sweeda Floor Covering Service. After his father retired, Ed took over the family business and operated it for several years until its closure.

Ed was employed recently at the American Silk Mill, Hudson, and the Mohegan Sun Casino,Plains, as a poker dealer until his retirement.

In life, Ed enjoyed watching sports from being a spectator at a game or watching one on the television. His hobbies were going fishing, throwing darts, and playing pool. When at home, he was a great gardener and a great handyman.

He is preceded in death by his brother Niel P., June 5, 1976, mother Marian , January 25, 1983, and father Edward Sr., January 20,1995.

Surviving are his brother Administrative Law Judge Ronald Sweeda and his wife Maureen, Summerville, SC; nieces Cheryl and Diane Sweeda, Summerville, SC and long time companion of fourteen years Janice James, Hudson.

Funeral Service for Edward will be held privately and at the convenience of his family.
