Please share a memory of Frances to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Frances R. Shutacawski, on Tuesday April 16, 2013 , went home to be with the Lord to celebrate her 102th birthday. Frances was born on April 18, 1911. She was a daughter of the late Frank and Nellie Pietrzak of Hudson. Frances attended school in Plains Township. She then began working at Neisner Brothers, Wilkes-Barre, for many years. After retiring from Neisner Brothers, she moved with her husband Frank to Port Chester, New York, where they were both employed by Empire Brush Company. After her return back to the Plains Area, she became an active member of Saint Joseph Church , Hudson. She was a member of the church Altar and Rosary Society, the church choir, and other numerous church organizations. Since she was the oldest member of Saint Joseph's Church, she was given the honor of locking the church doors when it closed. Frances was also active in community organizations such as the Plains Senior Citizens Group and the Red Hat Society where she enjoyed their camaraderie. She enjoyed playing the organ, and loved to get together with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, who passed in 1992; sisters Stella Mroz and Lillian Merithew; brothers Raymond; Joseph; and Daniel. She is survived by her loving sister Ceil Rock; and brothers Clem and Leonard; and by numerous nieces and nephews. In the past few years she was a resident of St. Luke's Villa. The family of Frances is truly grateful to the staff of St. Luke's Villa and the Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the compassionate care she received.
