Jason Christopher Cwalina, 37, of Wilkes-Barre, passed unexpectedly on Saturday, February 25, 2023, while in the care of the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp. Born in Kingston on September 2, 1985, he was a son to Theresa Danko and the late Stanley Cwalina. Jason grew up in the Kingston area, at the age of 12, his family moved to Plains Township. Jason attended local Kingston, Plains Township schools and James M. Coughlin High School. He was employed by Frank Orbitz Drywalling Company as an installer for several years and for Ostopick Landscaping as a landscaping specialist. If you knew Jason, he was his mom’s “Hanky-Panky Boy” after the song he loved to sing growing up. He also enjoyed other country music songs. Jason loved to go to concerts with his family and friends, always having a great time. He spent time outdoors by going off roading on his ATV and camping in the woods with friends. Jason was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees fan. He was preceded in death by his father Stanley Cwalina; brother Ryan Cwalina; maternal grandparents Howard and Mary Theresa Mitchell Ellsworth; paternal grandparents Stanley and Anna Munykosi Cwalina; and several aunts and uncles. Surviving are his mother Theresa Danko, Wilkes-Barre; step father Walter Danko, Wilkes-Barre; brothers Richard Brown; Corey Lewis; two stepsisters and one stepbrother; his companion Joan Vitali; godparents Kathy Maher and Thomas Mitchell; goddaughter Alexia Chopack; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 2:00 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. at the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street Plains. A prayer service for Jason will begin at 4:30 p.m.
