Obituary of Reba G. Kroll

Reba Geraldine Kroll, 88, of Wilkes-Barre, passed peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2025, while in the comforting care of the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp. Born on May 10, 1936, in Osceola, Arkansas. Reba was the second of seven children of the late Otis and Katherine Burgess Coleman. Reba grew up in Greenville, Mississippi and attended local schools. Reba met an airman serving in the Air Force stationed in Greenville, Raymond Kroll. They fell in love and were married on January 16, 1953. Together they raised their three children: Joyce, Sharon, and Bruce. Reba worked as a hairdresser at her beauty salon in Wilkes-Barre. Throughout her life she worked for the Ramada as a banquet waitress; for Lord and Taylor in the distribution center, and for the Sunshine market as a cashier. She was a skilled worker with her hands from making ceramics to crocheting, Reba did it all. She especially was a skilled gardener. She was also quite competitive when it came to card games, or playing Yahtzee or Skip Bo. Reba was a faithful member of the Saints Peter and Paul Parish, Plains for several years. She will be remembered as a hard-working wife and mother, caring grandmother, and now a watchful guardian angel. She was preceded in death by her loving parents Otis and Katherine; husband Raymond; sisters Rosemary and Patsy; brothers Otis, Travis, Jerry, and Ronald. Reba is survived by her daughters Joyce Kapustay and her husband Andrew, Cobleskill, NY, and Sharon Montero and her husband Frank, Summit, NY; son Bruce and his wife Mary, Wilkes-Barre; granddaughters Kimberly Kapustay, Rochester, NY, Amy Piechowski and husband Seth, Shavertown, and Katrina Kapustay and fiancé Jim MacMartin, Camillus, NY; great grandchildren Emma and Aiden Piechowski, and Asher MacMartin Kapustay, along with extended family. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in the Saints Peter and Paul Church, 13 Hudson, Road, Plains. Mass will be officiated by the celebrant Rev. Jack Lambert, Pastor. For those that cannot attend mass, the service will be available to view on the church's Facebook. Interment will be held at a later date. Reba will be entombed with her husband Raymond at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Reba's name may be given to the St. Jude's Children's Medical Research Hospital, call 800-213-6584 or mail a check to Memorial Giving at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105. Arrangements were placed in the care of the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., Plains Twp.
