Obituary of Joann Marx

Joann Marx, 66, of Luzerne, passed peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2025, while being in the comforting care of the Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre. Born on January 19, 1959, in Wilkes-Barre, Joanne was one of three children of the late Joseph Marx Jr. and Anna Olexa Marx. Joann grew up in the Heights section of the city and attended local schools and was a student at the Westside Technical School. This is where Joann began a lifelong passion for woodworking that became a crafting hobby throughout her life. Joann was employed as a laborer in several warehouses throughout her lifetime. She was a loving mother to her three children: Joshua, Justin, and Jennifer, and a caring grandmother to her granddaughter, Katherine. She was also a caring life partner to her love, Joseph Deyo. Joann accepted Joe's children and grandchildren as her own and enjoyed making the most of both sides of her family feel loved and welcomed. Joann enjoyed making trips to the beach, one of her favorite places, with her friends and family. She also likes to see her favorite animal, the wolf. If you didn't know of her passion for the animal, all you had to do was step foot in her home. Although we have to say goodbye to the leader of our family pack, we know she will be at peace with her loving family in heaven. Joann was preceded in passing by her loving parents Joseph and Anna, sons Joshua Parsons, and Justin Rosser, and her brother Donald Marx. Surviving are her daughter Jennifer Thompson and her husband Brad, Dallas, granddaughter Katherine, her loving life partner Joseph Deyo, Luzerne, brother John Marx and his wife Tammy, Oklahoma, Joseph's loving children and grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation held on Friday, April 25, from 5:00 p.m. Until 8:00 p.m. at the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc. Plains.
