Gloria Dressler Obituary

Gloria Jean Dressler, 74, of the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, passed peacefully

in her sleep Thursday, April 24 th , 2025, surrounded by her family.


Born in Wilkes-Barre in “the patch” of Miners Mills on September 2, 1950, she was the

daughter of the late Michael and Victoria Day. She graduated from G.A.R. Memorial

High School in 1969.


Gloria was a devout Catholic all of her life and an active member of St. Peter’s and

Paul’s Church. It was there where, at just 19 years old, she wed the love of her life,

Robert “Bob” Dressler, on October 4 th , 1969. The young couple moved to the East end

section of the city and later relocated to the Miners Mills section. They were married for

52 years, and spent a beautiful life together, traveling, raising their three sons, and just

spending time with each other and friends.


Gloria was a sweet lady, loved by many. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother,

and friend you could ask for. She took great pride in being a faithful homemaker. A

talented cook, her family often requested her famous potato blintzes. Her and Bob

enjoyed summers packing up the kids and camping at Knoebels Amusement Park.

Never one to miss an opportunity to go on vacation, Gloria loved traveling with her

family to various places, like Cape Cod, Atlantic City, Myrtle Beach, Nevada, San

Francisco, Branson, the Florida Keys, Aruba, Mexico, several cruises, and more.


She particularly loved playing Bingo every Wednesday at the Henry Club. She also

enjoyed going to the Italian and Triangle Club with her husband and friends. Her kitchen

table was a warm rendezvous point for friends and family to laugh, share stories, and

enjoy coffee and sweets with her. She enjoyed walking and taking care of her

companion dog, Addy.


She was preceded in passing by her husband, Bob Dressler, her loving parents, brother

Michael Day Sr, her sisters Geraldine Machinas and Barbara Sakavage, Her sister in

laws Marylou Day, Pearl Day, and Cheryl Day and brother in law Joe Sakavage.


Surviving Gloria are her sons, Robert Jr, Plains Twp.; Steven and his partner Kelly,

Pittston; Mark and Ashley and her daughter, Skylar, Kingston; grandsons Steven Jr, and

his wife, Katrina, Connecticut; Jason Asbury and his children, Connor, Ian and Owen;

sisters Rosalie Reiss, Debora Fox, and Kathy Day-Ketel; brothers David, Gabriel, and

Gregory Day, and spouses, Ron Reiss, Jim Fox, Wouter Ketel, Ronald Machinas, and

Carol Day; sister-in-law, Rosemary Dressler, as well as many nieces, nephews, and

cousins.


Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, April,29,2025,

at the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road,

Plains, on Wednesday, April 30,2025, at 9:30 a.m. Rev. John Lambert, pastor will be officiant

of the service. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of his family.
