Dolores A. Cegelka, 85, of Plains Township, a loving mother and grandmother, passed peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, while in the comforting care of Edenbrook on Second Avenue in Kingston with her loving children by her side.
Born in Dupont on December 17, 1939, Dolores was one of seven children of the late Frank and Caroline Smithonic Kolankiewicz. She grew up in Dupont and attended area schools. Dolores was a seamstress all her live working in Center Fashions, Dupont and Laura Fashions, Avoca.
At the wedding of a friend, Dolores met Stanley John Cegelka, and they fell in love. On May 29,1965, the couple got married and they moved to Suscon. Together they raised five children: Stanley, Bernard, Nancy, Frank, and Keri.
Dolores was a past member of the Sacred Heart Church, Dupont. In her spare time, she enjoyed canning; cooking family meals and making her czarnina; gardening and going on family trips and enjoyed going to bluegrass music festivals in New York.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents Frank and Caroline; loving husband of thirty one years, Stanley; sisters Florence Chernouskas and Irene Sutkowski; brothers Joseph and Edward; and grandson Bernard Jr.
Surviving to mourn her passing are her loving children Stanley (Jodi), Pittston: Bernard Sr. and his companion Maryann, Dupont: Nancy (Chris) Wickizer, Roaring Brook: Frank (Amy), Exeter: Keri and her companion Eric Panusky, Hudson; grandchildren: Dino Jr.; Jordan: Tyler: Madison: Brandon: Jaxson: great grandson Max; sisters Lorraine ( Robert) Hergan, Wyoming, and Julie (Ed) Chernouskas, Pittston.
Services for Dolores will be held privately by her loving family. A celebration of live for Dolores will be scheduled and announced at a future date.
