William Kenneth Wunner Sr., 75, of Wilkes-Barre passed peacefully on Saturday, June 14, 2025, while in the comforting care of the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. Born in Wilkes-Barre on November 6, 1949, Bill and his brothers were raised in the Heights section of the city by their grandmother. He attended city schools and was a graduate of E.L. Meyers High School. William then enlisted in the United States Army reserves. Bill worked many jobs over his lifetime his last was working for Metro Industries Corporation, however, he was most proud of being a member of the Painters Union Local 41. In his spare time Bill loved to go fishing on Lake Carey or Harvey’s Lake with his son-in-law Shawn. He also didn’t mind having a Captain and Coke and grabbing his drumsticks to get you dancing with a great beat that he could play. When it came time for the weekends in the summer, he would be watching his favorite driver Dale Earnhardt dominate the Nascar tracks. In the fall, he would be cheering on his Buffalo Bills. William was also a member of the VFW LANI POST 6325, Hudson, and a faithful member of Saints Peter and Paul Parish. In 2001, Bill fell in love with Patricia (Pat) Mock and a short time later in July 2004 they were happily married and resided in Wilkes-Barre. Together they have many great memories of their children and grandchildren, and they in turn have many great tales to tell of their loving father and grandfather that they will cherish always. William was preceded in death by his stepdaughter Kimberly Obitz. Surviving are his loving wife Patricia, Wilkes-Barre; daughters Jessica Wunner, Wyoming; and Rebecca, North Carolina; son William Jr., New York ; stepson Frank Obitz Jr, Plains; stepdaughters Cynthia Turner and her fiancé Phillip Delzeit, Parsons; Kelly Davis and her husband Shawn, Plains; and Pamela Obitz, Plains; brothers Ronald Wunner and his wife Debbie, Conyngham; and Edward Wunner and his wife Judy, Pringle, nine grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
