Elizabeth J. Latsko Obituary

Elizabeth J Latsko, 91, of the Hudson section of Plains Township passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on July 10, 2025, in the compassionate care of Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre.


She was born in Wilkes-Barre on October 13,1933. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Pauline Zaharowski (Kadala). She was married to her loving husband Edward for 53 years. Together they raised three children, Edward Jr., Dianne, and Lisa.


Elizabeth grew up on Wyoming Street in Wilkes-Barre, PA. She graduated with honors from Coughlin High School in 1950. She received an Associate Degree in Accounting from Wyoming Seminary Business School. She worked for the Social Security Administration in Wilkes-Barre for 32 years performing clerical and benefits services.


She and her husband were lifelong members of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Wilkes-Barre, PA. She was active in the church choir, PTA, Holy Rosary Society, and Mother's Club. She volunteered her time and service to support church bazaars, fundraisers, and preparing food for social events.


Elizabeth enjoyed crocheting, making many beautiful afghans that family will cherish. She also knitted slippers for family, friends, and donations. She loved reading, baking, and going on bus trips for enjoyment and religious purposes. She was proud of her ethnic heritage and ensured the family celebrated holidays with traditional customs and meals.


She was a true friend and touched many with her kindness and generosity. She will be remembered as a very sociable lady with the gift of gab. She will be dearly missed by her family.



She was predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years Edward, her son Edward Jr, three sisters Mary, Pearl, Anne, and infant brother John.


She is survived by her daughter Dianne (Tom) Jesikiewicz, grandchildren Elise (Scott McNaugher), Luke Jesikiewicz, daughter Lisa (Robert) Bull, grandson Ryan (Rachel Currier), cherished great grandson Jesse Edward Currier Bull, granddaughter Katherine, sister Dolores Lynch, and numerous nieces and nephews.


Funeral Service for Elizabeth will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. from the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains, with the Office of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary's of the Assumption Byzantine Church, 695 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre with the Reverend Michael Kerestes officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, Dallas.


Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 16, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
