Anne T. Gerrity Obituary

Anne Theresa Gerrity, 80, of Plains Township, formerly of Miners-Mills, passed peacefully at home on July 13, 2025, while under the loving care of family and Allied Services In-Home Hospice, Clarks Summit. Born on June 1, 1945, in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of Clarence and Ann (Bucknavage) Juzwiak, who preceded her in death.


Anne was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, class of 1963, and completed the equivalent of an associate degree through coursework at Kings County Hospital, Brooklyn, NY, and Gwynedd Mercy University, Philadelphia, PA. Anne was licensed through the Wilkes-Barre City School of Practical Nursing and worked for nearly 20 years as an LPN for private, in-home patients and the Leader East Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Kingston.


Anne was a member of St. Francis Church, Miners Mills, until its closure, and then a member of Saints Peter and Paul Church, Plains. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, playing cards with friends, coffee dates with cherished family, and spoiling her three grandchildren. Anne was a sappy romantic who loved watching Lifetime and Hallmark movies and enjoyed many home shows on HGTV. In retirement, Anne dedicated much of her time to volunteer work at the John Heinz Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine and the Wesley Village assisted living campus. She was a Past President of the JLW Mountain Laurel Lions and remained active in planning CHS

class of ‘63 reunions and social gatherings. Despite her claims that he never took her anywhere, Anne enjoyed traveling with Marty to Florida, Arizona and the Grand Canyon, Hawaii, Alaska, the Bahamas, and most recently, Ireland.


Surviving Anne are her husband of 56 years, Martin; daughter, Colleen DeSchamp and husband Greg, Brownsville, VT; two sons, Kevin Gerrity, Muncie, IN, and Brian Gerrity, Plains, PA; brother, Mark Juzwiak and wife Karen, Marana, AZ; three grandchildren, Dylan and Sarah DeSchamp and Brady Gerrity, and family members, Genevieve Comitz, Melbourne, FL, Sally Maxwell and husband Mitchell, Plains, PA, Connie Gerrity, Wysox, PA, Peter Sladin, Wilkes-Barre, PA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.


Visitation for Anne will be held at St. Maria Goretti Church, 42 Redwood Dr., Laflin, PA, on Saturday, July 19, 2025, beginning at 9:00 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately at 10:00 AM, and will be celebrated by Rev. John Lambert, Pastor of Saints Peter and Paul Parish, Plains, PA. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre.


Anne’s family wishes to thank Rev. Alex Roche, Pastor, and the St. Maria Goretti Parish for their hospitality, and the nurses and aides from Allied Services who helped with Anne’s care, especially Anne, Joan, Karla, and Dawn.
