Mark Vincent Orosz Obituary

Mark Vincent Orosz, Papa or Dad to those who loved him, passed away Monday, February 9, 2026, under the care of Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center's hospice service.

Aged 73, he was born in Berwick on April 28, 1952. Mark was one of five children to Paul and Marie Manjone-Orosz. He spent his childhood in the Hunlock Creek area, attended Lake Lehman schools, and graduated with the class of 1970 from West Side CTC.

Mark would spend his early adulthood running Broadway Corner Store, also known as Orosz General Store at Broadway Corners in Hunlock Creek, first working under his mother and father, then running it for himself with his 1st wife and children for years before it's closing. Mark would drive the school bus. He would later transport clients for Wheels on Wheels and Rural Health Corp, officially retiring in 2013.

Mark had a spirited personality—he’d tease you lovingly, making sure you knew he cared. His family meant everything to him, and he cherished every moment spent together. He also opened his home to foster many children and passed along his driving know-how to many new drivers.

At home with his wife Frances and family, Mark enjoyed relaxing with a glass of iced tea, watching old westerns, or tinkering in the garage while classic rock played in the background and he worked on his motorcycle or many woodworking projects. He relished being out on the open road. Now, he’ll forever be in our rearview mirror, watching over us. Remember: never drive faster than your guardian angel can fly. Soar high, Mark—you lived well and fought bravely. Rest peacefully now.

Mark is reunited in heaven with his parents Paul and Marie, his beloved wife Frances, and sisters Carol Newhart and Sharon Hartless and brother Gregory Orosz.

He is survived by sons Vincent (Hanover Twp.), Richard and his wife Jennifer (Swoyersville); grandsons Mark and his wife Edna (Luzerne), and Dalton; great-grandsons Vincent and Victor (Luzerne); his sister Lynn Vincent (Ashley); many foster children, including Pricilla Werner and her family of Beavertown; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains, on Sunday, February 15, between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Deacon Donald Crane.
