Helen Winiewicz Obituary
Helen Winiewicz, 98 of Hudson, passed into eternal life on Wednesday, April 8,2026, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Helen was born on November 3, 1927, in Hudson, a daughter of the late John and Catherine Jackiewicz Shivell Sr. She graduated from Plains High School and Wyoming Seminary Business College. She held various jobs throughout her career. She also participated in the Foster Grandparent Program for several years after retirement.
A deeply devout Catholic, she was devoted to Mary the Blessed Mother and prayed the rosary daily.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edward Winiewicz Sr., infant daughter Patricia, son John, brother John Shivell Jr., and sister Leona Rowker.
Helen is survived by her son Edward Winiewicz Jr., niece Elaine whom she considered a daughter and was a "bonus" grandmother to Jared and Leann. She is also survived by a cousin and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are under the care of the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., Plains, Pa.
