James E. Pawloski, 66, of Harvey’s Lake, passed away peacefully at his private residence on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

Born in Plains Twp. on March 13, 1960, he was the son of Ernest J. and Joan Pawloski. James spent his formative years in Plains, attending Michael J. Duddy Elementary School before graduating from James M. Coughlin High School. He subsequently enlisted in the National Guard, where he was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist in1982.

Throughout his life, James demonstrated an unwavering work ethic. His career began at Todd Ayers Towing of Mountain Top and continued at Altec in Wilkes-Barre. Later, he joined the Public Works Department of Fairview Twp., serving as a foreman and eventually retiring from the department.

Outside of his professional pursuits, James was passionate about working on cars and enjoyed hunting. He was also a dedicated target shooter and Lionel train collector. During the summer months, James was an enthusiastic NASCAR fan, frequently travelling to races in Richmond and the Poconos to support his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. He leaves behind cherished memories and remarkable stories that will be deeply missed by all who know him; we take comfort in knowing he has embarked on life’s greatest journey.

James is survived by his loving parents, Ernest and Joan; son Frank and his wife Baellae; daughters Kristy Peterson and her husband George, and Jenna Tempalski and her husband Stephen; grandchildren Emmeline and Charity Pawloski, Gavin and Owen Tempalski; sisters Joann Filippini and Marcy Czekalski; as well as nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains. The funeral service will take place on Saturday at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Matthew Tarr, Pastor of High Point Baptist Church, Larksville. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with military honors.
