Stanley A. Benczkowski Jr., aged 95, of Hudson, passed away at home on Monday, June 1, 2026, surrounded by his devoted family. Born in Hudson on March 23, 1931, he was one of ten children of the late Stanley Sr. and Mary Nowak Benczkowski. Stanley attended St. Joseph’s School and graduated from Plains Memorial High School in 1948, subsequently continuing his education at Fenn College in Cleveland, Ohio while residing with his Aunt Lottie’s family.

After attending college, Stanley began his career with the Cleveland Twist Drill Company, working there for three years before returning to Hudson. After settling back home in Hudson, he joined Knarr Corporation in Pittston, remaining there for nine years until the company closed. He then worked as an electrician for Stanley Rowney Electric Company, before joining RCA Company of Mountaintop, where he advanced to the role of buyer during his thirty-one-year tenure, retiring in 1991.

As a young man, Stanley met Rita Guzek at a dance. Their love for music, dancing and each other lead to their marriage in September of 1959. Together, they raised five children, Stanley III, Raymond, Rita Louise, Ramona, and Sharon in Hudson. Stanley and Rita celebrated fifty-seven years of marriage until Rita’s passing in 2017.

Stanley was a lifelong Catholic and a dedicated member of St. Joseph’s Church of Hudson, St. Andre Bessette and following parish consolidation, Ss. Peter and Paul Church of Plains, participating in the choir and Holy Name Society. He actively contributed to church events alongside his family, including bazaars, bingos, and preparing traditional Polish meals. Stanley was also an active member of Knights of Columbus, Counsel 302 where he attained the rank of fourth degree knight. He was a longstanding member of the Brookside Sportsmen Club, and was their recording secretary for many years.

In his free time, Stanley excelled as a gardener, cultivating vegetables and ornamental plants that reflected his care and patience. He enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles and quiet moments on his porch. He found great joy in spending time with his family especially lake vacations, Saturday night card games, family reunions, and holiday dinners at his children’s homes.

Stanley leaves behind a legacy of faith and love. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Rita, daughter-in-law Carol (Runscavage) Benczkowski, brothers Joseph and Frank, and sisters Lottie Silvi, Isabelle Neishell, Johanna Kalinosky, Helen Rinkevich, and Clara Benczkowski.

He is survived by his son Stanley III and daughter-in-law Susie Rothwell of Bear Creek; son Raymond and his wife Susan of Kingston; daughters Rita Louise Benczkowski of Plains, Ramona Mazur and husband Ron of Hudson, and Sharon Sankus and husband Edward of Laflin; grandchildren Aimee, Christopher, Kaitlyn, Amanda, Jessica, Edward, Zachary, Rachel, Abigail, and Jacob; great-grandchildren Max, Daniel, Lincoln, and August; sisters Marie Sperazza of Pittston and Felicia Bellanco and husband Sam of Hughestown, along with many nieces and nephews.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to Dr. Paul Witt for his compassionate care and engaging conversations on fishing, as well as the nursing staff of Serenity Hospice for their support during difficult times.

Family and friends are invited to visitation on Monday, June 8, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Ss. Peter and Paul Church at 9:30 a.m., officiated by Rev. John C. Lambert, Pastor. The service will be streamed for those unable to attend. Interment with Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hudson.
