Sharon L Hresko Obituary

In Eternal Memory

Sharon Lee Hresko, 75, of Plains Township, passed peacefully from her home into the Lord’s kingdom on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

Born in Kingston on August 27, 1950, Sharon was one of three daughters of the late Nicholas and Helen Senchak Hresko. At a young age, she moved with her family to Plains Township. She was educated in the Plains schools and graduated from Plains Memorial High School, Class of 1968.

Sharon was a devoted mother and loving caregiver to her three children: Nichole, Shawn, and Tiffany.

She worked for several years as a bartender at the Gas Light Bar and Genetti’s Banquet Facility in Wilkes-Barre. Her natural motherly care later became a meaningful strength in her work as a caregiver for Step By Step, where she supported individuals with special needs in area group homes. Sharon helped those in her care build independence, confidence, and a sense of purpose in their daily lives.

Sharon was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Church in Wilkes-Barre.

Throughout her life, Sharon enjoyed shopping and finding good bargains. At home, she found happiness in gardening, canning the vegetables she grew, and preparing delicious meals for her family. Her greatest joy, however, was being a grandmother and sharing in the lives of her grandchildren as they grew. Her legacy of love will continue with all who knew her, and may her memory be eternal.

Sharon was preceded in death by her loving parents, Nicholas and Helen; her daughter, Tiffany Cardona; and her sisters, Gloria Brzycki and Joyce Solovey.

Surviving are her daughter, Nichole Starr, and her husband, Donnie, of Bloomsburg; her son, Shawn Nastawa, and his wife, Sherisa, of Laflin; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, July 10, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains. At 7:00 p.m., Rev. Michael Kerestes, Pastor of St. Mary’s Byzantine Church, will lead Parastas. Interment will be held privately by the family at St. Mary’s Byzantine Cemetery in Dallas.
