Theresa Marie Danko, 65, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Friday, July 31, 2026, while in comforting care of Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Kingston on September 24, 1960, she was one of six children of the late Howard Lawrence Sr. and Mary T. Mitchell Ellsworth. Theresa grew up in the Kingston area and attended local schools and Wyoming Valley West High School.

Theresa dedicated her life to the noble and full-time calling of homemaking, managing her household with grace, patience, and boundless love while raising her children. She was the anchor of her family, turning a house into a warm, welcoming home where everyone felt safe and loved. Her greatest achievements were measured not by titles or awards, but by the quiet, daily devotion she poured into her family. She was also a loving grandmother who praised her grandchildren and spoiled them when their parents weren’t looking.

Theresa was preceded in passing by her parents, Howard and Mary; husband, Walter; sons, Jason Christopher Cwalina and Ryan Keith Cwalina; sisters Mary Ellen Ellsworth, Lisa Ellsworth and Tina Furner; and stepdaughter, Cassandra Danko.

Surviving to mourn her passing are her son, Richard Brown III, and his wife, Maria Elena Brown, of Sayre, OK; stepson, Walter Danko, and his wife, Christina, of Hilldale; stepdaughter, Tracy Benjamin, and her husband, Joseph, of Mountain Top; stepson, Stanley Robert Cwalina, and family, of NC; grandchildren, Ashley Hannah Brown, Amber Catherine Brown, BreeAuna Nikole Gamble, Abygail Kristen Nelson, Marissa Ellen Gamble, MacKenzie Benjamin, Emma Benjamin, Joseph Benjamin, Kayla Danko, Ava Danko, Ethan Roberts, and Cameron Danko; sister, Florence Ellsworth Remy, of AZ; brother, Howard Lawrence Ellsworth Jr., of TX; and nieces and nephews.

Services for Theresa will be held privately at the request of her family. Arrangements are in the care of Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., Plains Twp.
