Charlotte Zajaczkowski, 91, of Plains, passed peacefully into the Lord's Kingdom on Saturday, August 1, 2026, while in the compassionate care of the staff at Wesley Village Nursing Facility, Pittston.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on May 17, 1935, Charlotte was the last surviving child of the late Frank and Stella (Sot) Zegarski. She was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School.

Charlotte grew up in the Miners Section of Wilkes-Barre, where she met the love her life, Edward "Zaz" Zajaczkowski, as a young girl. They were united in marriage on May 17,1956, and together they built a loving home in Plains, where they raised their family.

Throughout the years, Charlotte put her remarkable sewing talents to work in several of the area's dress factories and was a proud member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union (I.L.G.W.U.). She later worked in Environmental Services at General Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, where she remained until her retirement.

Charlotte's greatest joy, however, was using her talents for those she loved. Whether she was hemming a pair of pants, creating clothing for her children and grandchildren, or carefully customizing a tuxedo, every stitch reflected her generosity and love. Earlier in life, she also enjoyed reading novels, painting ceramics, playing bingo at local church socials, and spending peaceful days fishing alongside her husband, simply enjoying one another's company on the water.

A woman of deep faith, Charlotte was a lifelong member of Saints Peter and Paul Church in Plains and faithfully served as a member of the parish Women's Guild.

In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward "Zaz" Zajaczkowski; daughter, Lynda Zajaczkowski; son, Edward Zajaczkowski Jr.; grandson, Michael Zajaczkowski; sisters, Jean Marie Ceklosky and Helen Seitchek; and brother, Dr. Joseph F. Zegarski.

She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: her daughter, Karen Toole and her husband, James, of Stewartsville, N.J.; her son, Paul Zajaczkowski, of Plains; grandchildren Ed, Debbie, Joseph, Kevin, Garrett, Paul, and Amanda; several great-grandchildren; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. in Saints Peter and Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains, with the Rev. Robert Simon officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, Plains Township.

A visitation will be held Friday morning at the church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.

Charlotte will be remembered for the love she stitched into every garment she made, the kindness she extended to everyone she met, and the unwavering devotion she showed to her faith and family. Her gentle spirit and caring heart will remain a treasured blessing to all who knew and loved her.
