Obituary of Romaine Ann Bucci

Please share a memory of Romaine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Romaine Ann Bucci, 87, of Hanover Township, a loving mother, grandmother, and sister passed into the Lord’s kingdom on Thursday, September 28, 2023, while in the comforting care of her sister, Phyllis Lesso, and the Commonwealth Wilkes-Barre General Hospital team. Born on July 19,1936, Romaine was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marian Kuczynski Bolita of Plains Township. Romaine attended area schools and was a graduate of the Plains Memorial High School, class of 1954. During her time in high school, Romaine was active as a cheerleader. With her beautiful smile and a kind heart Romaine attended the Grace Downs Air Career School in New York City for aspiring stewardesses. After completing her schooling, Romaine began work flying the friendly skies, but she also took in the city life. Romaine enjoyed sailing in the bay and swimming at the beach in Long Island Sound. A short time later, Romaine changed her career and began working for the Montefiore Medical Center as a lab technician. She loved her career there and started to climb the promotion ladder until she became the lab administrator. After serving this New York City hospital for fifty years, Romaine retired. During these years, Romaine took pride in becoming a mother to her son Dennis William McCormack. She took great care in making sure he had an exceptional educational foundation in life and supported his athletic talents and aspirations. He was her supreme accomplishment in life. In return, Dennis made Romaine a proud grandmother to his children Daniel Ryan McCormack, Connor Michael McCormack, Scott James McCormack, and Melanie Rose McCormack. Romaine welcomed two more grandchildren into her heart, Tracy Marie Milburn and Alison Lee Milburn, when Dennis married his beloved Laurie. Romaine was instrumental in her grandchildren's lives. When they were young, they wanted Romaine to cut and manicure their nails, and comfort them with back scratches and massages. She made the holidays extra special by going all out with holiday decorations and making her famous meals; chicken divan, roly polys, meatballs with gravy, and dessert of her famous chocolate cake. Her huge heart and help to her growing grandchildren was a comfort to them all. We will cherish her beautiful smile, the memory of her infectious laugh, the smell of her good meals, the warmth of her hugs, and the comfort of her love in our hearts. Romaine is joined in heaven by her son Dennis, who passed May 8, 2023, her sister Donna Bolita Shiffer, and her nephew Wayne C Shiffer. She is survived by her sister Phyllis Kauperchinsky Lesso, Hanover Township, daughter-in-law Laurie Dowgray McCormack, Kansas; Connecticut grandchildren Daniel, Connor, Scott, and Melanie; Kansas grandchildren Tracy and Alison; niece Brenda Jo Shiffer Faraci, North Carolina; and nephew Kenneth Allen Shiffer, North Carolina. On Saturday, November 4, we will gather to celebrate Romaine’s life. A visitation begins at 1:30 P.M. at the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains Twp. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 P.M. The service will be officiated by Rev. Jack Lambert, friends, and family. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of her family
