Obituary of Stanley J. Kowalski

Stanley (Stash) J. Kowalski, 84, of Plains Township, passed peacefully on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, while in the care of Temple University Hospital -Jeanes Campus, Philadelphia. Born on January 12, 1937, on Bald Mountain in Bear Creek Township, he was the son of the late Stanley and Bertha Smacher Kowalski. Stash attended Bear Creek schools and James M Coughlin High School. In 1960, he enlisted in the United States National Guard. This started a thirty-eight-year journey serving with the 109th Field Artillery. Stanley was honorably discharged in 1998 at the rank of sergeant major achieving awards for his army service and humanitarian service. Stanley was hard working all his life. He held down two full time jobs. He worked as a truck driver for InterMetro for twenty years and as track maintenance for Pocono Downs for forty-nine years. On May 21,1960, Stanley married Marie Bohinski. They moved to Plains Township to start their family. Together Stanley and Marie raised three daughters Susan, Donna, and Diane. Stanley was a past member of St. Joseph Church, Hudson, and a current member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Plains Township. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 558, Plains Township. Stash was known to play the accordion at family parties and events. He was a loving husband of sixty years, father, and grandfather, soldier, hard worker, and a kind soul to all who knew him. Stanley was proceeded in death by his parents Stanley and Bertha; daughters Diane Kowalski and Susan Seprish; and sisters Margaret Matrunich, Irene Gora, Annabelle Humko. Surviving are his wife Marie, Plains Twp.; daughter Donna DiGiuseppe and husband Paul, Chalfont; son-in-law Joseph Seprish, Drums; brother Francis, Mountaintop; grandchildren Daniel, Chalfont, and Megan, Arlington, VA; and nieces and nephews. Funeral Service for Stanley will be held on Monday, May 10, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. from the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in Saints Peter and Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains. Mass will be live streamed on church’s Facebook, and funeral home’s Facebook. Interment with military honors will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Wyoming. Family and friends may call on Sunday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Stanley’s memory may be given to the Shriners Hospitals for Children — Philadelphia, 3551 N.
