Floriann Jane Albert, 84, formerly of the Miners-Mills section of Wilkes-Barre and currently of Forty-Fort, passed into heaven in the early morning hours on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, while under the compassionate care of Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre.
Floriann was born in Plains Township on November 25,1936, to her late parents Bolek “William” and Jane Kreger Przystrzelski. She attended St. Joseph Elementary School, and was a graduate of the Plains Memorial High School, class of 1954.
Floriann began working in the local garment industry and was a member of the I.L.G.W.U. In August of 1960, she married her sweetheart, James J. Albert. The newly married couple followed James’s job with General Motors to New Jersey. A short time later, the couple returned to the Wyoming Valley, where Floriann returned to working for Gail’s Dress and other garment manufacturers in the area, mainly in the Miners-Mills section of Wilkes-Barre where the couple lived and started to raise a family with one son Jim and a daughter Jane.
She also worked as the office housekeeper of Doctor Cooper, of Wilkes-Barre, for twenty-five years. After the decline of the local garment industry, Floriann worked in the housekeeping department of the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital for ten years until her retirement in 2001.
Floriann was a faithful parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church, Hudson, were she participated in the quilting group, pierogi making projects, and volunteered her time for the summer bazaars for many years. She was a current member of Saints Peter and Paul Parish of Plains.
Mrs. Albert enjoyed her retirement with her husband James, attending church, and loved cooking and baking for her loving grandchildren who knew her as MomMom and Grandma. They were her world in the last few years and will miss her dearly.
Floriann was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Ann Phillips, brothers Stanley and Peter Przystrzelski.
She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-one years, James; daughter Jane McCue and her husband Michael, Forty-Fort; son Jim and his wife Mary, Eldersburg, MD; grandchildren: Alex Albert, Elena Albert, Emily Latoski, Eric Latoski, Jack McCue, Evan McCue, and Adam McCue; devoted niece Barbara Hoover, Trucksville; and loving friend Ruth McMullen, Pittston.
