Please share a memory of Marie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marie A. Kowalski, 84, of Plains Township, passed peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, August 9, 2021, while in the care of Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre. Born on East Stanton Street in the Hudson section of Plains Township, on July 2,1937, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Margaret Wilk Bohinski. She attended St. Joseph Elementary School, Hudson and was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, Class of 1955. Marie at the age of 18, went to work in our local garment industry as a seamstress and worked in several dress factories in our area. She was also a member of the I.L.G.W.U. On May 21,1960, Marie married Stanley (Stash) Kowalski and the new couple moved to Plains Township to start their family. Together Marie and Stanley raised three daughters: Susan, Donna, and Diane. During the years that followed, Marie took on the role of family caretaker from caring for her parents, children, and extended family members. She would make sure they were all taken care of if they were at home or in a nursing home. Marie cooked, baked, and made sure they all had clean and pressed clothes. She would put everyone ahead of herself. This way of life was instilled in her by her faith in Jesus Christ. Marie was a strong, devoted Christian. She was a past member of Saint Joseph’s Church, Hudson, and a current member of Saints Peter and Paul Parish, Plains. Over the years, Marie would volunteer at many church functions, bazaars, and socials. She would faithfully be at Saturday service, and this Saturday she will be spending it in the kingdom of heaven. Marie was preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Margaret; her husband of sixty years, Stanley (Stash); daughters Diane Kowalski and Susan Seprish; and sisters Genevieve Figel and Eleanor Binker. Surviving are daughter Donna DiGiuseppe and husband Paul, Chalfont; son-in-law Joseph Seprish, Drums; grandchildren Daniel, Chalfont, and Megan, Arlington, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service for Marie will be held on Saturday, August 14 , 2021, at 9:30 a.m. from the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in Saints Peter and Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains. Mass will be live streamed on church’s Facebook, and funeral home’s Facebook.
