Marion Grillini Lipenski, 95, formerly of Laflin passed away, Monday, January 24,2022, at United Methodist Homes Wesley Village Partridge-Tippett Nursing Facility, Jenkins Township, where she resided for the past 7 years.
Born September 28,1926, in Keystone, Plains Township, she was the daughter of Raphael and Lenore Sperazza Grillini and was a graduate of the Plains High School.
Marion co-owned a meat business with her husband in Nanticoke, she worked at her family-owned grocery store in Wilkes-Barre, Juanita's Pharmacy, Wilkes-Barre and co-ran a Bingo Hall at Harvey's Lake.
Marion was a devoted New York Yankees fan. In their younger days, Marion and her husband Bob enjoyed fishing at many lakes, but their favorite place was at their dear friends, the Nesbitt's, on their private Lake Catalpa in Dallas Twp. They also enjoyed going to horse races locally, but especially at Monticello Raceway in New York.
In addition to her parents, Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lipenski, brother, Sherman Grillini wife Mary; sisters, Amelia Serafini husband Lee, Adeline Zawada husband Felix, Betty McCormick husband Arthur, niece Mary Smith, nephews Robert McCormick, Angelo Cappellini and brother-in-law William Tome.
Marion is survived by her sister Lena Tome, Jenkins Township, nephews Ralph Grillini(wife)Cathy, Jenkins Township, Raymond Cappellini (wife) Mary, Bethlehem, James Grillini(wife) Arline, Plymouth, goddaughter and niece Carol Tome, Kingston, nieces Barbara Kalafut (husband) Carl, Hanover Township, Lenore Spinelli, Luzerne, Linda Serafini, New Hampshire; several great nieces, great nephews, great-great nephews, great-great nieces, very dear friends and wonderful former neighbors.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wesley Village for the compassionate care they provided to Marion during her entire stay at their facility. This past year plus with the Covid situation and restrictions, the family never had to worry because they knew Marion was being well cared for during the times they were unable to visit.
The family requests flowers be omitted. If desired, memorial donations can be made in Marion's name to Wesley Village Partridge-Tippett Nursing Facility, 209 Roberts Road, Jenkins Township, Pa, 18640.
A walk thru viewing will be held at the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc. 55 Stark Street, Plains, Pa, 18705 on Thursday, January 27 from 2:00p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Masks are required to attend viewing. Entombment will be private at St. Mary's Mausoleum, Hanover Township.
