Obituary of Walter Daniel Malyndziak

Walter D. Malyndziak, 78, of Swoyersville, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2022 at the Wilkes Barre General Hospital after battling a long illness.
He was born May 29, 1943, in Wilkes-Barre, he was the only son of the late Walter and Frances Tomczak Malyndziak.
Walter was raised in the Hudson section of Plains Township and was a graduate of Plains High School. He was a member of the United States Army Reserves. Walter was an accomplished musician. He played the accordion and organ with his bands The Swingtones and Projection. He retired from the maintenance department of the Wyoming Seminary Lower School.
On August 7, 1971, Walter married his best friend, Patricia Golumbaski. They celebrated 50 years together. He always wanted her by his side.
Walter loved polka music, traveling with his family, gambling at the casinos, and old cars and trucks. He was an avid Penn State fan and enjoyed being the family’s Mr. Fix It. He was a member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Swoyersville.
Walter was proceeded in death by his parents. Surviving in addition to his loving and devoted wife Patricia, are his two daughters Judith Malyndziak and her life partner Ivan Herschenfeld of Swoyersville, Lynn and her husband Anthony Comunale of Bangor, PA; and his two grandsons, Nico and Logan Comunale; Sister-in-law, Sister Jude Ellen.
Walters' family would like to thank Dr. Paul Witt, Dr. David Greenwald, and his whole medical team for their excellent care and compassion throughout Walter’s battle with cancer and COPD.
Family and friends who wish to celebrate his life are invited to Yanaitis Funeral Home, 55 Stark St. Hudson, on Sunday, May 15, from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 16, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes St. Swoyersville. Friends may also call at the church from 9:30 a.m. until mass begins.
