Chester A. Hummel Sr. Obituary

Chester Andrew Hummel Sr., 75, of Plains Township, passed on Saturday, May 28,2022, while in the care of the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp.

Born in Turtle Creek, PA, on January 24, 1947, he was a son of the late George and Mary Oskawinski Hummel. At a young age, his family moved to the Shickshinny area where Chester grew up and attended school.

As a young adult, Chester loved to work on cars and he continued his passion when he worked for Broody Tires, Larksville. On weekends he was a tree cutting service for the last forty years. Chester retired from Lord and Taylor where he worked as a loader for thirteen years.

On December 1, 2000, Chester married Phyllis Bolton and the newlywed couple resided in the Plains area.

Chester was a hard-working man who wasn’t happy unless he was working. He would do anything for anyone who asked for help. He was a simple man, he just enjoyed his cars, trees and going on a country ride with his wife by his side.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Toni Hummel; Betsy Sickler; brothers Charles; John; Edward; and Raymond.

Chester is survived by his loving wife of twenty-one years, Phyllis, at home; sons Travis, Plains; Chester Jr., Warrior Run; step son Richard Swiatek, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren Jesse; Jayden; Anthony, and Ty; sisters Stella Moore, Pittsburg; Anna Mae Cleaver, Berwick; his nieces and nephews and dog Tootsie.
