Obituary of Sandra Ann Williams

Sandra Ann Williams, 79, of Plains Township, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 9, 2022, while in the care of the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp. Born on July 30, 1942, she was one of five daughters of the late Ann and David Flanagan. Sandra grew up in the Luzerne area and was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, class of 1960. In April 1961, Sandra married her true love, Robert Williams. The couple moved to Chicago for a few years, then relocated to Rockaway, New Jersey where they settled down and raised their family. Sandra embraced the role of mother and cherished the years spent raising her children. She enjoyed decorating and taking care of her home. She was an avid reader and throughout the year she took great pride in entertaining family and friends, especially during the holidays, her favorite time of the year. Her greatest pleasure was being a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her. She will be remembered most for her contagious laugh, huge smile and kindness toward all those she crossed paths with. Sandra was a devout Catholic and a past member of St. Cecilia Parish, Rockaway. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, husband of forty-five years, Robert; sisters Lee Keller; Joan Grazitis, and Mona Baltier. Surviving are her children Robert and his wife Mary, Woodbury Heights, NJ; Mark and his wife Lisa, Bloomsburg; and Carolyn Morton and her husband Roger, Canberra, Australia; sister Pamela DeCinti, Plains; grandchildren Stephanie, Robert, Amanda, Samantha, Jackie, Diana and Isabella and several nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Sandra’s Life on Friday, July 15, 2022, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains. PA. Service will be officiated by Rev. John Lambert. A Burial Service will be held at a later date in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Rockaway, NJ, date and time to be announced. Sandra loved her animals.
