Please share a memory of Catherine ( Kay) to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Catherine (Kay) Pachucki, 88, of Wilkes-Barre, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, with her family by her side. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Catherine was one of nine children to the late Dennis and Margaret Mulherin O’Day. She attended Grant Street Elementary School and James M. Coughlin High School. At age 16, she left school and began working at Penn State Belt and Buckle on Empire Street. She met and married her “soul mate” and love of her life Edmund Pachucki on April 12, 1958. After marriage, they moved to Jersey City, NJ, in 1962, and returned to Pennsylvania in the late 1980’s. Catherine was a mother of three children: Donna Marie Ward; Stephen Pachucki; and Jo Ann Bleiler. Catherine was known for her stunning blue eyes and natural wit. She loved to cook, shop, write letters and send cards to family and friends. Nothing came between her and her religion, a devoted Christian, she was. She loved to spend quality time and share her stories with her granddaughters, Allison and Elizabeth. One of Catherine’s greatest treasures was being employed at St. Mary’s Daycare. She loved caring for the children and tending to their special needs. Her daily stories were uplifting and she was so proud they all called her “Miss Tay”. Catherine is survived by her husband, Edmund, of 64 years; daughters Donna Marie Ward (Glenn), Palmyra; Jo Ann Bleiler (Kevin), Nescopeck; son Stephen Pachucki (Nicole), Bear Creek; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sisters Marie Niemiec and Regina Munley; brothers-in-law Ronald and James Pachucki. She was preceded in death by her parents Dennis and Margaret O’Day; sisters Margaret DiMaggio and Theresa Stortz; brothers Joseph O’Day; Daniel O’Day; Vincent O’Day; and James O’Day; her parent-in-laws Adam and Josephine Pachucki; brothers and sisters- in-law Eugene and Charlotte Pachucki; Elmer and Geraldine Kalanick: and Theresa Pachucki; and nephew Adam Pachucki. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the caring and compassionate staff of the Riverstreet Manor where Catherine resided the past eight months and the wonderful staff in the PCU unit at Geisinger, especially Will, who took the time to sit with her and hold her hand during her worst moments until her family arrived. A Mass of Christian Burial and remembrance of Catherine will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, in Ss. Peter and Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains Twp. The Rev. John Lambert, pastor, will be the celebrant of service. The mass will be live streamed on the SS. Peter and Paul Facebook. A visitation will be held in church prior to Mass starting at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow to peacefully lay Catherine to eternal rest and in the hands of our Lord Jesus Christ in St. Mary’s Byzantine Cemetery, Plains.
