Edward Frank Metzger Obituary

Edward Frank Metzger, 65, of Plains Township, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 13, 2023, with his loving family by his side.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on May 2, 1957, he was the son to the late Fred and Theresa Montoro Metzger. He grew up in the East End section of the city and attended Mackin Elementary School. He was a graduate from James M. Coughlin High School, class of 1975. During his time at Coughlin, he met and fell in love with his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Mamola. On September 18, 1976, they were married and settled to raise a family in Wilkes-Barre.

Ed worked as a machinist at the Vulcan Ironworks, of Wilkes-Barre for six years. He then took a job at the United States Postal Service as a Postal Clerk in the Wilkes-Barre Branch and later in his career at the Scranton Branch. After thirty-eight years of service in September 2022, Ed retired.

Ed loved music, especially rock and roll. He enjoyed playing the drums for many years in different local bands throughout the valley. He also enjoyed going camping and fishing and having a cooler full of Genesee, but it had to be the blue cans not the red.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Melissa Metzger Sarbaugh.

He is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Marilyn; at home; daughter Maria; Plains; son Edward and his wife Jessica, Wilkes-Barre; son-in-law Stephen Sarbaugh, Plains; granddaughters, Sophia and Amelia Metzger, Wilkes-Barre.

Edward requested to have funeral services held privately at the convenience of his family.
