Obituary of Helen P Lavinia

Helen Pauline Lavinia, 70, of Plains Township, passed through heaven's gates on Wednesday,April 19,2023, while in the care of Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township. Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, on October 22, 1952, she was a daughter of the late John and Anna Chowaniec Martin. Helen grew up in the Elizabeth, Newark, and High Bridge areas of New Jersey. Helen attained her GED and continued her education to pursue a career in Home Health Care as a certified nurse's aid for over twenty-five years until she retired. Helen was a dedicated mother to her daughter Victoria and a loving grandmother to her grandson Jaden, who she enjoyed spending time with playing video games and attending church services and activities. Helen was very active in the Saints Peter and Paul Parish, Plains, volunteering her time for over fifteen years with the parish food bank, and over five years with the church's clothing store, Treasures. She also volunteered at all church events. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, playing word finds and fill-ins. Helen was preceded in passing by her parents John and Anna; and her brother Michael Martin. Surviving are her loving daughter Victoria Hodosi, Plains; grandson Jaden Hodosi, Plains; brothers John Martin, Elizabeth, NJ; Frank Martin and his wife Angela, Vero Beach, FL; nieces and nephews Anna Martin, DE; John Martin, Naples, FL; Paul Martin, Palms City, FL; Steven Martin, Elizabeth, NJ; and Rachel Martin, Wareton, NJ. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation and Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at Saints Peter and Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains Twp. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until the beginning of Mass at 10:00 a.m. Mass will be officiated by Rev. John Lambert, pastor. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Saints Peter and Paul Food Pantry, 13 Hudson Road, Plains Twp., PA, 18705.
