Obituary of Ruth D. Savage

Ruth D. Savage, 89, of Wilkes-Barre, passed peacefully on Thursday, June 8, 2023, while in the comforting care of the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.
Born on July 28, 1933, in Wilkes-Barre, Ruth was the youngest of nine children. She was the daughter of Stanley and Mary Janderczak Daniels. Ruth grew up in the Miners-Mills section of the city and attended the S & S Elementary School and James M. Coughlin High School.
Ruth was employed by the R.C.A. company as a circuit tester when she met her future husband Ronald E. Savage, who also worked for R.C.A. Together Ruth and Ronald raised two sons Randall and Ronald. Ruth became a stay-at-home mother to raise her sons. As her sons got older, she also held various small jobs as a seamstress and later retired working for Leslie Fay.
In retirement, Ruth enjoyed spending time with her sons. She also enjoyed her hobbies of sewing; reading; crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was a lifelong Penn State football fan that enjoyed many games. Ruth also enjoyed making many special holiday meals and decorating her home for all the holidays and family get-togethers.
Ruth was preceded in passing by her husband Ronald; sisters Mary; Catherine; Ann; Stella; and Josie; brothers Michael; Joseph; and John.
Surviving to mourn her homegoing are her sons Randall, Wilkes-Barre; Ronald and his wife Linda, Acton, MA; a special niece that helped Ruth through her last days, Linda Maloney; along with many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation and Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Monday, June 12, 2023, at Saints Peter and Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road, Plains Twp. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until the start of Mass at 10:00 a.m. Mass will be officiated by Rev. John Lambert, Pastor. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be given to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 53 Glenmaura National Blvd., suite 102, Moosic, PA,18507.
Arrangements are in the care of the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., Plains Twp.
