Obituary of Daniel Robert Frank
Please share a memory of Daniel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Monday, November 2, 2015, after bravely enduring a battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis for over three years, Daniel Robert Frank of Dallas peacefully passed away at home in the loving arms of his daughter with devoted animals at his side.
Dan, son of the late Nicholas P. Frank and Jeanne M. (Neuer) Frank of Wilkes-Barre, was born on April 8, 1943. He moved to Back Mountain after residing in Wilkes-Barre for over 50 years.
A 1961 graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Dan studied at Penn State Wilkes-Barre. In 1964, he enlisted in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and trained with the Eighth Battalion, Second Brigade, Company E. He was employed by Allegheny Distribution Company and Acme Markets Warehouse until their closures. He retired from Ward Trucking in 2008.
As hard-working as he was, Dan always found time for his family. He was married to his late wife, Jean Louise (Rodak) Frank, for 45 years and was an amazing father to Jean Danielle Frank. Surviving in addition to his daughter is his brother, Nicholas Roy Frank,( Beth), also of Dallas, and their four sons; three sisters-in-law Helen and family; Louise (Jerry) and family; and Mary (Edmund) and family; one brother-in-law John (Regina) and family; godchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Dan received significant recognition for memorable baseball and football performances. From his involvement in North End Little League's 1950s World Series appearances through his participation in high school competitive sports and adult leagues, his talent was undeniable. Even when he was not actively playing, he took the time to coach his daughter's softball team in Parsons.
Dan loved to create beautiful wood furniture, enjoyed communicating with others through amateur radio (call sign W3EST), and had a true appreciation for music. People often spoke of his gentle nature, kind heart, and generous spirit. He was an exceptional man and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
