Ronald J. Eovitch, 76, of Scranton, passed peacefully on Monday, October 23, 2023, while in the comfort of his home.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on October 12, 1947, he was the third of four children of J. Louis Eovitch and MaryAnn (Muka) Lilley. Ron grew up in the Plains Township area. He attended local schools, and was a graduate of the Plains High School, class of 1965. He enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Silver Star, along with several other medals and commendations for his service.
After being honorably discharged from his service, Ron returned back to the Wyoming Valley where he began working for local construction companies. He was a skilled craftsman and mechanic that could "MacGyver" his way out of any situation he would get into. If you need something fixed, call on Ron.
For over thirty years of his life, Ron has worked for the Pennsylvania State Game Commission, Dallas Facility, as their Building and Grounds Maintenance Personnel.
In his spare time, you could find Ron riding his motorcycle or driving his boat around Lake Wallenpaupack or fishing in one of the many streams in our area. He was a skilled outdoorsman that was at home in nature. He was also known for being DJ Ron for a short time playing small functions or formal events in the area.
He was a past member of St. Dominic’s Church and St. Benedict’s Church, both of Wilkes-Barre, and a current member of the Saints Peter and Paul Parish, Plains Twp.
Ron was preceded in death by his loving parents: J. Louis Eovitch and MaryAnn B. Lilley and his sister Marilyn Kearkuff.
Surviving is his life companion Susan Urban, Wilkes-Barre; sister Doris Cryan and her husband, Edward, Fairfax, VA; niece JoAnne Yuhas and her husband Steve, Wilkes-Barre; nephew Charles “Chuck” Kearkuff and niece Marianne Dumberth, both of Benton.
