Obituary of Theodora Theresa Witczak

Theodora Theresa Witczak, lovingly known as Teddy, 81, of the Hudson Section of Plains Township, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning while in the care of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born on September 30, 1933, she was a daughter to the late Louis and Sophie Kubicki Rembis of Hudson. Teddy grew up in Hudson and attended Plains elementary school and was a graduate of the Plains Memorial High School, class of 1951.
Teddy, right out of school, took a job with the Bell Telephone Company in Kingston. In thirty eight years of her working for Bell, she never missed a day of work. She was an outstanding example of dedication and retired from Bell as one of the executives of the local office. She was also a proud thirty year member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers.
Teddy was a past member of St. Joseph's Church, Hudson and current member of Ss. Peter & Paul Church, Plains. Teddy enjoyed going to Broadway shows, playing bingo at church functions and enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Red Barons. Teddy enjoyed shopping at the local farmers markets for produce and cooking meals for a house filled with family and friends.
Teddy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Bernard J. Witczak, who passed on Feb. 17, 2010; sisters Louise Papaj and Josephine Stasik.
Surviving Teddy are her loving brother Joseph Rembis, Swoyersville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends and family may call on Friday, October 2, 2015, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc. 55 Stark Street, Plains.
Funeral services for Teddy will be held on Saturday morning, October 3, 2015, at 9:00 am from the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am in Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Plains. Rev. Jack Lambert will be the celebrant of the Mass. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hudson.
