Carol Ann Koscak Obituary

Carol Ann Koscak, 78, of Wilkes-Barre, a good and faithful servant of her Lord, passed into her eternal life on Friday, June 28,2024, while in the care of the Mountain Top Rehabilitation and Health Care.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on November 27,1945. Carol grew up in the city and attended local schools. She was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, class of 1963. She then continued her education at the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing where she followed her heart and began a lifetime of helping others. Carol worked at Mercy Hospital for over forty years as a certified nursing assistant. She was also an instructor for first aid and an emergency medical technician (EMT).

On October 4, 1969, Carol married her love David J. Koscak and the couple moved to the Irishtown sections of Plains. After a few years, they settled in the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre where they resided for the rest of their lives. Together the couple raised two children: Lisa and David.

Carol continued her passion of helping others by volunteering at the Parsons Methodist Church and at the Osterhout Library where she helped with the literacy program and taught others to read. She also volunteered at her churches throughout her life at bake sales, bazaars, bingos, and other church functions. She was a past member of Blessed Sacrament and St. Dominic’s and a current member of Saints Peter and Paul Parish, Plains.

In her lifetime, she enjoyed collecting nick knacks from her travels. She fulfilled a lifetime dream by visiting Ireland with a group of friends.

Recently, Carol enjoyed many activities at the nursing home from playing bingo, group activities, watching her shows on Turner Classics or watching her Christmas shows on the Hallmark Channel. Carol always made time for her Lord and prayed the rosary.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband David; and sister Jane Ann Baker.

Surviving are her daughter Lisa Smalls and her husband Michael, Hudson; son David, Luzerne; granddaughters Alyssa and Samantha Smalls, Hudson.
