Obituary of Michael R. Malenovitch

Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Michael R. Malenovitch,70, of Plains Township passed on Friday, August 16, 2024, while in the comfort of his home. To many he was “Miller Mike”, but to his children Kristin and Michael, he was the kindest person who would never say no to anyone. He was their loving dad. Born in Wilkes-Barre on April 6, 1954, he was a son to the late Robert and Elizabeth Markowski Malenovitch. Mike grew up in the Plains area and attended St. Joseph Elementary School. He was also a graduate of Bishop Hoban High School, class of 1972. Michael was dedicated to three things in life: his family, job, and fishing. For the past forty years, Mike worked hard in the beer industry for Penn State Beverage; Premium Beverage; United Beverage; and currently for the Susquehanna Brewing Company where he was the warehouse manager. He started from an entry position and did it all. He loved it and all the people and friendships he made along the way. Michael married Theresa Biniek on April 9, 1983. Together they raised two children Kristin and Michael, while residing in the Plains area. Unfortunately, the couple divorced, but they remained lifelong friends. Michael was always there for his children to help them and guide them through life. When Mike was not at work or with his family, you could find him with a fishing pole in his hand and wearing a pair of hip waders casting a line into the Delaware River at Long Eddy, New York. He enjoyed fishing and was quite good at it. Mike was given an angler award in Pennsylvania for catching a state record catch. He was proud of it. We hope there is a beautiful stream in heaven where you can cast your line and be at peace. We love you and will see you again. Mike was preceded in death by his loving parents Robert and Elizabeth, and his brothers Lawrence and infant brother. Surviving are his daughter Kristin Chacko and her husband Joseph, Plains; son Michael J. and his wife Melissa, Hudson; sister Susan Malenovitch and her husband Patrick Kalnoskas, Alachua, FL; brother Matthew “Whitey” and his wife Alison, Miners Mills; his goddaughters and nieces Hailley and Stacie and nephews Matthew and Scott. Family and friends are welcomed to attend a visitation to be held on Wednesday, August 21, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains. Funeral Service for Michael will be held on Thursday starting at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. in Ss. Peter and Paul Church, 13 Hudson Road.
