Donald Simonson, 50, of Plains Township, passed on Sunday, October 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving family while in the comforting care of the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plain Township. Don was born in Wilkes-Barre on July 11, 1974. He was a son to the late John and Mary Grace Davis Simonson. Don attended city schools and James M Coughlin High School. He worked as a mason for his life on numerous construction sites throughout the area. When he wasn’t working, Don loved playing the guitar and hanging out with his brothers. He was a kind soul to those who loved him and he will be deeply missed. Donald was preceded by his parents John and Mary Grace; sisters Peggy Simonson and Kim Walsh; and his brothers John Jr( Jacky); James; and Daren. Don is survived by his daughter Bethann Simonson, Yatesville; three grandchildren: Eva, Eddie, and Barry; sisters Karen Skiba and her husband Scott, Plains; and Ann Simonson, Plains; brothers Richard, Miners- Mills; Brian, Wilkes-Barre; Joseph, Wilkes-Barre; Robert, Plains; Thomas, Wilkes-Barre; along with several nieces and nephews. At this time, services for Donald will be held privately at the convenience of his family. Services are in the care of the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., Plains Twp.
