Walter E. Danko Obituary

Walter E. Danko, 63, of Wilkes-Barre, passed on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, while in the care of the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre.


Born on October 22, 1961, Walter was the son of the late Walter Sebastinas and Margaret Mitchell Danko. Walter grew up in the Miners Mills section of the city and was educated at the Cotton Avenue Elementary School and James M. Coughlin High School.


Walter was a drywall installer for Frank Obitz Inc. for twenty years until his retirement. He was a jack of all trades. In his spare time, he fixed cars for family and friends or you could find him bartending at the L.A.N.I. VFW Post 6325 in Hudson.


Walter fell in love with his neighbor Theresa and they were married on April 13, 2016. They were happily married for the past eight years and now he will be lovingly missed.


Walter was preceded in passing by his parents Walter and Margaret; daughter Cassandra Muller; granddaughter Madison Benjamin; stepsons Jason and Ryan Cwalina; sisters Patricia (Patsy)Roman, Margaret (Marge) Melodick, Gloria Obitz, Rose Marie Gutierrez, and Karen Yakabouski; and brother Joseph J. Danko.


Surviving to mourn his passing are his loving wife Theresa, Wilkes-Barre; son Walter and his wife Christina, Hilldale; daughter Tracy Benjamin and her husband Joseph, Mountaintop; stepson Richard Brown, Oklahoma; grandchildren MacKenzie Benjamin; Emma Benjamin; Joseph Benjamin; Kayla Danko; Ava Danko; Ethan Roberts, Marissa Roberts and Cameron Danko; along with several nieces and nephews.


Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Walter which will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. for Walter.
