Obituary of Charles Dalton Brown

Charles Dalton Brown, Sr.,90 of Homer, New York , passed away on June 18, 2015, at the home of his daughter and son-in -law, Charlene and Chuck Lindsey, with whom he resided. He formerly was a resident of Wyoming, Pa, and Washington, DC.
Charles was born in Fort Pierce, Florida, on February 18,1925, to the late Charles Dalton and Ethel Haus Dalton and was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Steligo Brown; son, Charles D. Brown, Jr; brothers, Jack and Russell Dalton; and sisters, Gloria Jean Pegg and Eileen Brandt.
Surviving are his daughters Charlene(Chuck)Lindsey, Colette(Stephen)Wallace, and Carron(David)Smith; eight grandchildren, Stacy Lindsey, Chazz and Kimberly Brown, Stephanie and Andrew Wallace, Paul, David, and Caitlyn Shiner; three great grandchildren ,Brandon and Kaiden Shiner and Meila Bekanich, and several nieces and nephews.
Charles was proud to serve his country in the US Navy, during his 20-year career, he served in the Atlantic during WWII, Sea of Japan during the Korean War, and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer. He worked in the food service industry and operated his own restaurant, Charlie Brown's, on MacArthur Boulevard in Washington, DC.
Charles was a selfless, honorable gentleman, who always had a smile on his face. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who always gave unconditional love. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, table tennis and gardening.

Calling hours will be held Sunday evening at the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc. 55 Stark Street, Plains, Pa, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church for a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated on Monday, June 22, at 10:30 am in St. Benedict's Church, 15 Austin Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, PA. Entombment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas. Pa. with Military honors provided by the US Navy.
