Obituary of Josephine Ann Loomis

Josephine "Jo" Ann Loomis, 92, of Wilkes-Barre, entered into her eternal life on Sunday, March 8, 2015, in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in the Miners-Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, on March 6, 1923, she was a daughter to the late Michael Peter and Anna Zimniski Liumas. After graduation high school, she found employment will the Bell Telephone Company as an operator. After forty three years of service to the company, Jo retired as chief operator. Josephine was a past member of St. Francis Church, Miners-Mills, the altar and rosary society and choir. After the church's closure, she later became a member of St. Benedict's Parish, Parsons.
Josephine was a very devote Christian and loved her church and community. She was a member of the Telecom Pioneers . She loved to socialize and tell a good joke or two to make your day a little brighter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Anna Gotteschalk; brothers Joseph and Michael Loomis; grand-nephews Christopher and David Thompson.
Surviving Josephine are her nieces Nancy Thompson and her husband, Robert, Santa Rosa, CA; Diane Tognetti and her husband Thomas, San Rafael, CA; great nieces and nephews Michael, Daniel, Michelle, Kari, Robert Jr.; Joseph, Carolyn, Robert, John Loomis, Marilyn Kelley and Bonnie Webster.
Josephine's Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at 9:30am from the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by officiates Rev. Joseph Kearney and Rev. Joseph Adonizio in St. Benedict's Parish, 155 Austin Ave., Parsons at 10:00am . Interment will be held in St. Francis Cemetery, Plains Twp. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. The Rosary will be recited during this time.
