William (Bill) Panaway, 80, of Wilkes-Barre passed away Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Hudson, he was the son of the late Anthony and Elizabeth Williams Panaway. Bill was a 1951 graduate of Plains High School and was a member of Parsons Baptist Church, Wilkes-Barre. Prior to his retirement, he had worked for International Color as a pressman for 25 years, and previously for Norandex, Wilkes-Barre, and also for the arena. He was preceded in death by his sister, Elvira Stegmueller; a son, David Panaway; and a brother, Attorney Anthony Panaway. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, the former Catherine Evans; a son, William J. (Joyce) Panaway, Plains Township; daughters, Beth Ann Panaway, Parsons, and her companion, Robert Kapp, Mountain Top; and Cathy Panaway, Parsons; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday from Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark St., Plains Township, with the Rev. Wayne Nichol officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Memorial donations may be made to Parsons Baptist Church, 232 Austin Ave., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18705.
