Obituary of Agnes Mary Libertoski

Agnes Mary Libertoski,92, of the Parsons sections of Wilkes-Barre, was surrounded by her loving family when the Lord called her home on Friday, August 01, 2014. Born on October 15, 1921, in the Shantytown section of Laflin, Agnes was one of thirteen children to the late Michael and Anna Kubic Timek. Agnes grew up in Shantytown and attended local school in Jenkins Township. On November 22, 1941, Agnes married Stanley J. Libertoski. Together they started something special. Agnes and Stanley owned at operated Stan's Fairway Market, in the Parsons sections until Stanley passed on April 24, 1999. During this time Agnes was a hard worker and a proud mother of six daughters. As her daughters grew, Agnes became a proud grandmother of fifteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Family was everything to Agnes and Stanley, and now looking back they did start something special, a beautiful family. Agnes was an active member in her community and in her faith. She was a past member of the St. Joseph Church, Hudson, where Agnes was an active member in the Confraternity of Christian Mothers, the quilters, and all of the church projects through the years, especially making pierogies and working hard at the church bazaars. She became a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Plains, after the closure of St. Joseph Church. She was also a long time member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Parsons VFW Post and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Parsons American Legion. Agnes enjoyed volunteering at the Golden Years Nursing Home facility for many years following her retirement and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She was well known for her kindness, entertaining personality and great sense of humor, as well as her beautiful embroidery, quilts, crochet and and needlepoint. Agnes is preceded in death by her husband Stanley; brothers Michael, Francis, and Joseph; sisters Evelyn Pientka, Anna Greeley, Katie Shuleski, Mamie Kulikowich, and Irene Rowker, and three infant siblings. Agnes is survived by her daughters Barbara Mondulick, Bear Creek; Loretta Washick, Thornhurst; Agnes Koerber Fells, Lake Winola; Evelyn Kelly, Shantytown; Irene Mahon-Newmark, Sparta NJ; Christine Libertoski, Wilkes-Barre; brother Stanley, Suscon; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family are asked to call Monday, August 4, 2014, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., 55 Stark Street, Plains. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at 9:30 am in Ss. Peter and Paul Church, 13 Hudson Rd. Rev. John Boyle will be the celebrant of the service. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hudson. Agnes will be carried to her place of rest by her ten grandsons.
