Michael Vince Gogick, 39, of Plains Township, passed on peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, July 21, 2014, in the Hospice of Sacred Heart, Dunmore. Born in Wilkes-Barre, on July 10, 1975, he was a son to Charlotte and the late Ronald Gogick. When Michael was a young boy, the Gogick family lived in Mountaintop and later moved to the Drums area. Michael was a graduate of the Hazelton High School, Class of 1993. He then joined the United States Army and served in the infantry. He was honorable discharged and returned home. Michael then found employment with Famosa Pizzeria, Hazelton. After a few years, Michael was employed in the manufacturing of wire rope for the Bridon American Corporation, Exeter. Michael also worked for the Woodlands Resort, Plains and the General Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, where he was a chef. Michael married the former Melissa Makara in 1999. Together they celebrated 15 years of marriage. They are the proud parents of their two children Michael and Tori. Michael was a proud and loving father to his children. He was a coach for the Wilkes-Barre Pony League and for the Plains Little League Softball. He enjoyed being in his kitchen cooking, hunting deer and turkey, archery, watching football, especially his son's Plains Yankee Football games and the New York Giants. Michael is survived by his loving wife Missy, daughter Tori, and son Michael, all of Plains; grandmother Jennie Gogick, Mountaintop; mother Charlotte Gogick, Drums; brother Gary, California; aunts and uncles; cousins, and his two dogs Thor and Bailey. Michael's funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 9:00 AM from the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc. , 55 Stark Street, Plains. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am in the St. Faustina Parish, formerly Holy Trinity Church, 520 S. Hanover St. Nanticoke. Rev. James R. Nash will be the celebrant of the service. Interment will follow in the Holy Trinity Cemetery, Nanticoke, with military honors provided by the United States Army. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 pm to 9:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gogick Family at the funeral home on Friday, or come out to the Gogick Benefit at the Laflin Park Field this Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Donations also can be given at any Citizen Bank, care of the Gogick Family Benefit.
