Michael Brannigan Obituary

Michael Brannigan, 32, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away unexpectedly on July 9,2016, while in the care of Geisinger Wyoming Valley,Plains Township.


Born on July 15,1983, he was a son to David Brannigan and Janet (Macking) Brannigan.


Michael always knew how to make people laugh, with his joking personality along with a caring soul.


While attending Coughlin High School he also pursued his love of welding at the Wilkes-Barre Area Vo-Tech. He was a 2001 graduate of James M. Coughin, Wilkes-Barre .


After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After serving his term of service, he received an honorable discharge.


Michael had been employed by several employers before starting and owning his own business D & D Property Maintenance, Plains. He was currently employed at SCI Dallas as a correction officer.


Michael was a member of numerous social club.


Michael enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing,riding his quads. He loved to cook and grow a garden. He enjoyed playing pool. He was a huge Giants and Rangers Fan. His greatest love of all was spending time with his girls, Destina and Davida, who were the most important people in his life.


Michael will be missed by so many. He was a son, grandson, father,brother, uncle, and a nephew.He was a marine to the core, and a great friend.


He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Leonard J. Macking, and paternal grandfather Frank J. Brannigan and his beloved uncle Ruben Williams.


Michael is survived by his twin daughters Destina and Davida, Plains; mother Janet, Plains; father David and his wife Kim, Hollenback Twp;; sisters Shannon,Plains; Makayla and Isabelle, Hollenback Twp; brother David, Hanover; maternal grandmother Sarah J ( Williams) Macking, Wilkes-Barre;paternal grandmother Ruth (Benson) Brannigan, Wilkes-Barre; Aunts ;Uncles; Cousins, and nephews.


Family and friends may call at the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc, 55 Stark Street,Plains, on Sunday, July 17, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. At 8:00pm , a service will be led by Rev. Jack Lambert ,Pastor of Saints Peter and Paul Church. SCI Dallas will be providing a honor guard for viewing.


Michael will be interred at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery ,Annivale, on Monday July 18. A service will be held in the Cemetery at 12:30 pm with military honors by the US Marine Corps. SCI Dallas will also be providing an escort to Michael’s resting place.
