Stanley(Whitey) J. Rogozenski, 94, of Wilkes-Barre, passed peacefully, on Monday, February 27, 2017, at his residence.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on February 9, 1923, he was a son to the late Stanley and Frances Jaskiewicz Rogozenski. He attended local Wilkes-Barre schools and was a graduate of James M. Coughlin, class of 1941.
Stanley worked for the Wilkes-Barre Lace Mill for a few years and later found a new employment with InterMetro. He was employed by InterMetro for twenty plus years until his retirement.
In his youth, Stanley was great at rollerskating and swimming in local watering holes or across the Susquehanna River. He was very active all his life with the Y.M.C.A. where he was one of the oldest members. If at the Y, you could find him playing handball or doing laps in the pool. When he was at his home, Stanley was a great gardener. He was all ready to start planting this year crop, but the Lord had other plans for him.
Stanley was a devoted Catholic and was a past member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Wilkes-Barre, for most of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Lorraine Doblix and Wanda Jankowski; and brothers Joseph and Michael Rogozenski.
Surviving is his sister Irene Burko, Plains; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017, at
10:00 am in St. Andre Bessette Parish, North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, with Rev. Ken Seegar, pastor. Internment will be held in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Wyoming. No calling hours, friends and family can gather at the church the morning of service.
The family would like to thank Pat and Bob Lada and their family and all the neighbors who were so kind to Stanley throughout the years. Thank you all.
