Obituary of Barbara Ann Parada
Barbara Ann Parada, 64, of Plains Township, passed unexpectedly on Saturday, May 20, 2017.
Born on January 5, 1953, in Kingston, she was a daughter of the late John and Laura Zarola Nash.
Growing up in Kingston, Barbara attended the local schools and the Kingston High School.
At a young age, she started to bartend in her parents bar the Cat and Canary in West Pittston. After the bar closed, she began her own business called the Polish Corner, located in the West Side Mall. This business survived the mall closure by Barbara making it a home business. She has enjoyed making Polish cuisine and managing the Polish Corner for over the last twenty years.
Barbara also held part-time jobs at Eddie’s Diner in Plains, and most recently was employed by Family Dollar and Weis Food Market in Plains.
In her spare time, Barbara could be found playing her lucky slot machine, “Duece’s Wild” at the local casino. When she was at home she enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley and cooking all sorts of good food for her family. Her greatest pleasure was spending her time with her children and grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of twenty-eight years, Charles, Plains Twp; children Robert Zimmerman, FL; Shawn Zimmerman, Wilkes-Barre; Gene Zimmerman; FL; Jason Howell, VA; Patty Howell, Plains Twp.; John Shupshinskas, Kingston; Lori Nace and her husband Jason, West Pittston; Robert Parada, Plains Twp.; Charles Parada and his wife Kim, VA; Lisa Barber and her husband Drew, FL; Marty Parada and his wife Megan, NJ; brother John Nash, FL; sister Laura Tokash, Wyoming;28 grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
There will be a visitation on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc.,55 Stark Street, Plains, from 5:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m. A Prayer service will be held at 5:30 p.m. lead by Rev. Jim Paisley, Pastor of St. Therese’s Church, Shavertown. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
