Obituary of Karen Chabala
Karen Chabala, 62, of Larksville, lost her 3-year battle with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at home.
Born September 19, 1955 in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Andrew R. and Anne (Micikas) Chabala.
She was a member of the graduating class of 1973 of Coughlin High School and then received an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Architectural & Mechanical Engineering from Luzerne County Community College,
She was employed as a Designer/ Draftsman at Schott Glass Technologies in Duryea from 1978-1986 in their radiation shielding dept. She then served as Chief Draftsman at G.R. Fisher Surveying & Mapping Co in Wilkes- Barre until 2009. Prior to her illness she also worked for the Red Cross, Genpact and Navient.
Karen was a very talented artist and loved to garden always feeling most at home amongst the many Flower, Herb & vegetable beds that filled her yard.
In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by an older brother Richard Chabala.
She is survived by her husband of 21 years and then closest friend for another 9, Vincent J. Stranch, Wilkes-Barre, a younger brother Robert Chabala, Wilkes-Barre and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of Yanaitis Funeral Home, Plains, PA. Services will be private, but friends and family are invited to gather at Rodano’s Restaurant, 55 Public Square Wilkes-Barre on Thursday Evening, June 7th from 6-8pm to share a memory and drink a toast in celebration of Karen’s Life.
