Robert Pienta, 75, of Ruskin, Fl, passed away unexpectedly at Tampa General Hospital on May 31, 2013. Born in Plains on July 5, 1937, he was the son of the late Edward and Stella Pienta. Bob was a graduate of Marymount High School and spent most of his working days as an ornamental and structural iron worker. He was also a long time bartender at Pocono Down Raceway. While living in Plains, he was an avid baseball player and played on many local teams. He enjoyed fishing, old movies, watching sports, traveling around the state of Florida and playing with his beloved cats, Mr. Roo and Bandit. Bob was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in both Bradenton and Ruskin and the Loyal Order of Moose on Annamarie Island. He is survived by wife of sixteen years, Laura, sons Christopher, Hatboro, PA, and Bryan and his wife Mary, Plymouth; daughter Tracy Cohen, Linwood, NJ; grandson Bryan, Plymouth; stepdaughter Maryann Pienta, Hughesville; step granddaughter Amanda Elliot; Hughesville; a sister, Nancy Thomas, Hillsborough, NJ, and many relatives in the Wilkes-Barre Area. A memorial service will be held graveside at Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Cemetery Road, in Plains, on July 6th at 11:30 AM. Arrangements are being made by Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., Hudson.
