Obituary of Rudolph James Czekalski

Rudolph (Rudy) Czekalski, 83, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully Wednesday at the Hospice Community Care Unit in Geisinger South, Wilkes-Barre, after a brief illness. He was born in Plains Township on November 9,1929, a son of the late Rudolph and Virginia(Jones) Czekalski. Rudolph was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed by the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 542. Surviving are his wife Dolores; daughters Marijo ( Jack )Varaly, Susan(Patrick) Mahoney, Dolly Wainwright and Karin Orrson (Stephen Kopiak); grandsons Jared, Jonas, and Zachary; granddaughters April, and Emma; brothers Donald, Raymond, and Kevin; numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice Community Care for their compassion in Rudy's last hours. A private funeral will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Bear Creek, Pa.Friends and family will gather at Dominick's Café, Hudson, Pa for a celebration of life on Monday, June 3rd from 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Homes for Our Troops, 6 Main Street, Taunton,MA,02780; phone:1-866-7-Troops. Services are in the care of the Yanaitis Funeral Home, Inc., Plains.
