Frank J. Marcinko Obituary

Francis "Frank" J. Marcinko Sr., 82, of the Hudson section of Plains Township, passed on Monday, March 11, 2014, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born on April 21, 1931, in Swoyersville, he was a son to the late John and Susan Yurkanin Marcinko. Frank was a graduate of the Forty-Fort high school, class of 1949 . After graduating, he worked for Toma's Floral and the Faith Shoe Factory, Swoyersville. In 1951, Frank joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country during the Korean War. Upon being honorably discharged, he returned home and started MFM Plaster Company with his partners. Frank was a master plasterman for fifty years until his retirement. During this time, Frank married the former Rose Marie Zych, on June 24, 1961, and together they shared fifty-two years of marriage and raised two sons : Frank Jr. and Gerry.

Frank was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Plains, Joseph E. Conlon Post 558, American Legion, Plains; and a past member of the Hudson Servicemen Club. Throughout his life, he was a true sportsmen. Frank enjoyed camping at Barbacci's Campgrounds , Orange; hunting; fishing; and mushroom picking. His other hobbies were gardening, construction, and cooking Sunday dinner for his family.

Frank is preceded in death by his sisters Susan Kamarunas; Marie Bernardoni; and Veronica Thieman.

Frank is survived by his loving wife Rose Marie and his son Gerry, with whom he resided; son Frank and his wife, Debra, Yatesville; sisters Flossie Venit , Laurel, Maryland; Annmarie Trypus, Port St. Lucie, FL, and Helen Lazar,Forty-Fort; brother Tom and his wife Linda, Tucson, AZ; and his two grandsons Tom and Tyler Koval, and nephew Tom Lazar, Forty-fort.

Funeral Services for Frank were held at the convenience of his family. Arrangements were in the care of the Yanaitis Funeral Home Inc., Plains.
