Obituary of Catherine Ann Deininger

Please share a memory of Catherine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Catherine Ann Deininger, 66, of Wilkes-Barre, became suddenly ill on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, and pass shortly after while in the care of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on June 19,1952, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine Gallagher Everett.

Catherine attended local schools of Wilkes-Barre and attended Wilkes- Barre G.A.R.

In the next few years of her life Catherine found employment in New York, and New Jersey from working as a waitress to becoming a Maid Supervisor of housekeeping in a New York hotel.  During this time, she married Mr. Carmen Altavilla. Together the couple raised their family until and untimely death of Carmen in 1991.

On April 18, 1998, Catherine remarried Mr. Louis Deininger and the couple settled in the Wyoming Valley.  She became a stay at home mom to help care for their families. She was the rock of the home life from caring for the children, baking, cooking, making her special candy. She was the best wife; mom, and grandmother anyone could ask for.  She was a loving and caring person who even helped strangers get back on their feet if they fell upon hard times.  Theirs was always a empty space at the dinner table that Catherine would fill with someone down on their luck.

As she got older and the grandchild started to grow, Catherine wanted to spend more time with time. She wanted to touch their lives with love and kindness.  With all that she had done for everyone, her one hobby was to just sit back and watch a good television show.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Catherine; husband Carmen Altavilla; and brother William Everett.

Surviving are her loving husband Louis; Wilkes-Barre; children Thomas Altavilla and his wife Maria, Florida; Mary Childs, Plains Twp.; Paul Altavilla, Wilkes-Barre;  Peter Altavilla; Wilkes-Barre; Michelle Park and her husband Brian, Wilkes-Barre;  April Altavilla, Plains Twp.; Michael Deininger, Plains Twp.; and Christopher Childs, Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren Elmer Geiger: Anthony Childs: Carmen Givens: Catalina Givens: Caden Givens: and Jayden Altavilla; siblings Mary Drayton, Kingston; Thomas and Jolynn Everett, Florida; Tammy Everett, Jason Everett, and Lisa Everett, all of Reading; step mother Stella Everett, Reading; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, and cousins.
